Jeremy Smith. 82, Gosnell, AR
Retired Colonel Jeremy F. Smith, 82, of Blytheville, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Jeremy was a member of the Arkansas Chapter of Pilots for Christ. He was born in Pullman, Washington to Jasper and Emily Lobdell Smith, and was a member of Gosnell Baptist Church. Colonel Jeremy F. Smith retired from the United States Air Force in May of 1989 after 27 years of active duty service. He was a pilot with over 5,300 flying hours with 1,100 hours in combat in Vietnam. His duty assignments included Chief of Flight Standardization, Aircrew Scheduling, KC-135 Squadron Operations Officer and Commander, SAC Wing Director of Operations and Wing Vice Commander. Col. Smith flew nine different military aircraft to include the B-52, KC-135, C-130, C-141, C-5A and KC-10. He received many military decorations including the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with one oak leaf cluster, Air Medal with six oak leaf clusters, Vietnam Service and Campaign medals and the Meritorious Service Medal

Scott Wayne Watson, 55, Arkansas Chapter passed away peacefully and went to his heavenly home on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021, at Methodist University Hospital. He was born March 24, 1966, in Florissant, Mo., to Thomas Watson and Yvonne White Watson. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Kerri Watson, two sons, Joshua Watson, 19, and Caleb Watson, 18, and his mother Yvonne (White) Watson. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Watson. Scott was a member of Harvest Baptist Church (formerly East Side Baptist Church) for 30 years. He dearly loved his church family and served the Lord faithfully as a deacon and a teacher. He passionately served the Lord through missions in Guatemala, spending several weeks in that country. Scott loved serving the Lord as a pilot and a member of Arkansas Pilots for Christ, flying medical mercy missions and sharing the love of Christ. He also served as a Gideon. Scott's hobbies included fishing and hunting. He was also an avid Razorback fan. His two sons were the joy of his life and he was lovingly devoted to his wife. Scott joined the National Guard on Jan. 14, 1988, as an aviation approach control specialist. Scott's AGR career included assignments as an enlisted production recruiter, executive administrative assistant, training non-commissioned officer (NCO), supply NCO, officer production recruiter, recruiting area NCO in charge and culminated with his final assignment as the G4 logistics service NCO in charge. Scott reached the rank of master sergeant and retired on June 30, 2016, after serving 26 years, 5 months and 29 days in the Arkansas Army National Guard. He earned numerous military awards to include Army Service Ribbon, Master Recruiting Badge, three NCO Professional Ribbons, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, eight Army Good Conduct Medals, two Army Achievement Medals two Army Commendation Medals, two Armed Forces Reserve Medals, Meritorious Service Medal, three Arkansas Service Awards, Arkansas Emergency Service Award, Arkansas Recruiting Ribbon and several Recruiter of the Month awards for enlisting the most soldiers in the state. Scott was a 1984 high school graduate of McCluer High School in Florissant. Scott earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Central Baptist College in 2004 and his Master of Business Administration in 2009. His primary position upon retirement was with the Social Security Administration as a customer service representative.
